How FlickFinder checks where a title is streaming
FlickFinder answers one question: where can I watch this, and in which countries? Here's how we put that answer together, and what to keep in mind when you use it.
Where the data comes from
Our availability data comes from TMDB (The Movie Database), whose watch-provider listings are powered by JustWatch. JustWatch tracks the catalogues of streaming services across well over a hundred countries. When you search a title, we fetch every country's listing for it in one go and group the results by service, so you can see at a glance how widely it's available.
What we count
We show subscription streaming only: titles included with a service you already pay for. We leave out titles you can only rent or buy, because those are available almost everywhere and would bury the answer most people want. We always list the nine biggest services (Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, Max, Apple TV, Hulu, Peacock, Paramount+ and Starz) so you can see clearly when a title isn't on one of them. Local services, like BBC iPlayer in the UK or Crave in Canada, appear only when they actually carry the title.
On each title page we also add our own summary: how many countries the title is streaming in, which countries have the most ways to watch it, and which big services don't carry it anywhere. Our streaming report applies the same data to whole catalogues.
Why a result might not match the app
Catalogues change constantly, often at the start of a month, and listings can take a little time to catch up. Services also sometimes show a title in search results with a "coming soon" label or as an extra-cost add-on. If you're about to subscribe because of one title, it's worth a quick check on the service's own site first.
Independent and free
FlickFinder isn't owned by or affiliated with any streaming service, and nobody pays to be listed. The site is free, with no account needed. It's supported by ads and an affiliate link, and neither ever changes what we show as available. You can read more about us, or get in touch at flickfindernet@gmail.com if something looks wrong. We'd like to fix it.
